Marvel Electricians has installed EV charging stations across Southern California since 2009, and 17 years in business means our electricians have seen just about every panel condition and wiring layout a home charger install can run into. Installing a Level 2 charger properly involves more than mounting the unit, it means confirming the panel has room for the added circuit, running a correctly sized wire, and pulling the right permit. Our licensed electricians handle all of it in one process rather than leaving the panel and permit questions for you to sort out separately. For anything beyond EV charging, explore our other electrical services.
Level 2 EV Charger Installation
A Level 2 charger needs its own correctly sized circuit, and we never connect one to a normal outlet with an adapter. Level 2 chargers deliver power far faster than a standard outlet and require a dedicated circuit run to code, typically on a 40 to 60 amp breaker depending on the charger.
Our electricians confirm your panel can support the added load before starting, run the wiring to the mounting location you want, and test the full circuit once the charger is installed.
EV Charger Installation Near You
EV charger installation is one of our most requested services across the region, and we install chargers as an Irvine electrician, with electrical services in Anaheim, and alongside Santa Monica, CA electricians who cover that area regularly. Wherever you are located, the same licensed team handles the panel check, wiring, and permit filing as one coordinated job.

EV Charger Panel Upgrade Requirements
Not every panel has room for a new Level 2 charger circuit right away. If your panel is already close to its capacity, or it is an older panel with limited breaker space, a panel upgrade may need to happen first. Our electricians check your panel’s available capacity as part of the initial visit, so you know upfront whether an upgrade is needed rather than finding out partway through the job. When an upgrade is required, we can coordinate it through our Electrical Panel Installation service so the charger install can proceed right after. Skipping this check is one of the most common reasons a charger installation gets delayed or fails inspection, so we always confirm capacity before quoting the final price.

What Our Customers Say
“Really pleased with the service provided by Marvel Electricians for our replacement panel and install of EV charger. They came out and provided a quote with clear explanation of our options and then managed the rest of the project. This included another assessment visit, help with permits and then the day of install. Great communication throughout and they were able to schedule PG&E rough inspection on the same day. They answered all our questions and were helpful in pointing out other areas which need to be brought up to code. Overall very good experience and would recommend.”
Andrie Wakky Dela Paz, Santa Paula, CA
“I had a wall-mounted Tesla charger installed on the exterior wall near my driveway. The technician ran clean conduit through the garage and configured the circuit perfectly. The charging speed is excellent and the finish looks completely professional.”

Frequently Asked Questions
How much does EV charger installation cost?
Level 1 installation starts from $300 and Level 2 starts from $400. The final price depends on panel capacity and wiring distance.
Do I need a permit to install an EV charger?
Most cities require a permit for a dedicated Level 2 charger circuit. We handle the permit filing as part of the installation.
Will my panel need an upgrade for a Level 2 charger?
It depends on your panel’s existing capacity. We check this during the estimate visit so you know before work begins.
Can I install a Level 2 charger on a regular outlet with an adapter?
No. A Level 2 charger needs its own correctly sized circuit, never a normal outlet with an adapter.
How long does EV charger installation take?
Most home installations are completed in a single day, though a panel upgrade beforehand adds additional time.
